Mrs. Pate grew up in Massachusetts, then moved to Virginia in High School. After graduating from Glenvar High School, she attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She began her teaching career at Chowan Middle School shortly after graduating from VA Tech. After a year, she transferred to Bunn Middle (via Edward Best as it was being completed) where she taught 6-8 grade Exploratory classes. After being named the Teacher of the Year at BMS, she transferred to Bunn High. Since she began at BHS, she has taught Foods 1&2, Personal Finance, Fashion Merchandising, Apparel & Textile Production 1&2, and Interior Design Fundamentals and Studio. She constantly demonstrates her leadership abilities by being a Mentor to new teachers, the CTE Department chair, and serves as the NC District 3 FCS DLC Coordinator. She loves the Bunn Community so much, she has driven from Nash County everyday for over 28 years to teach there. On a personal note, she has two adult children, 24 and 19, who have both graduated from BHS. In her spare time she enjoys puzzles, sewing, bead weaving to create jewelry, playing video games, watching scary movies, and spending time with her family!
