Science

Bill Schmidt is beginning his 7th year as a Science teacher and his first year at BHS teaching Earth and Environmental Science and Physical Science. He has been a resident of the Bunn area since 1989. Before teaching, Bill has had previous careers as a Meteorologist at WRAL-TV, Account Executive in TV and Internet advertising sales, and a Professional Facilities Trainer in the wheelchair accessible van industry. Bill likes to relate to students the importance of science in their daily lives, and how to use that information as they begin to consider their own career paths. He is also a rocket enthusiast and plans to attend a SpaceX rocket launch and landing in person some day.

Mrs. Girvin is originally from Maryland but has moved around quite a bit, landing in North Carolina in December 2020. Before coming to North Carolina, Mrs. Girvin was an informal educator where she worked in parks, zoos & aquariums teaching the public about nature and conservation. Mrs. Girvin lives in Youngsville with her husband and daughter. She loves to craft, watch TV and tolerates being a chauffeur for all of her child's activities.

Mrs. Shearin is a native of Franklin County and attended Franklin County schools.She is a graduate of Louisburg High School and graduated from Barton College with a BS in Biological & Physical Sciences. She loves her high school students and is fulfilled when she sees them graduate!

Graduated from BHS in 1994. Happily married, we have one amazing son. Attended NCSU then ECU to obtain teacher licensure courses. Been an employee with FCS for 19 years and have been at BHS since 2015.
